    The safari continues to Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa's largest and oldest tropical rainforests. Home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including more than 13 primate species, Nyungwe offers exceptional opportunities for chimpanzee tracking, nature walks, birdwatching, and exploring its lush montane forest ecosystem.

    Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

    Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional driver-guide, who will brief you about your safari before beginning the journey to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda's Northern Province.

    The scenic drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours and offers stunning views of Rwanda's rolling hills, picturesque countryside, and rural communities. Upon arrival at your lodge, check in and take some time to relax while enjoying the spectacular views of the Virunga Mountains.

    Spend the remainder of the day at leisure before enjoying dinner at the lodge.

    Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience

    After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by experienced park rangers on gorilla trekking procedures and conservation guidelines.

    Following the briefing, you will be assigned to a habituated gorilla family and begin your trek through the lush rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes of the Virunga Mountains. The duration of the trek can vary from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location and movement of the gorilla family.

    Once the gorillas are located, you will spend up to one hour observing these magnificent primates in their natural habitat. Watch as they feed, groom, interact with one another, and care for their young, creating a truly unforgettable wildlife experience.

    After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

    In the afternoon or evening, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village (formerly Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village) for an authentic cultural experience. Enjoy traditional Rwandan music and dance performances, learn about local customs and traditions, and gain insight into the rich cultural heritage of Rwanda.

    Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

    Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park via Nyanza and Huye

    After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin your journey towards Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa's oldest and most biodiverse tropical rainforests.

    Along the way, make a stop in Nyanza to visit the King's Palace Museum, a fascinating cultural site that offers insight into Rwanda's traditional monarchy and royal heritage. Continue to Huye (formerly Butare), Rwanda's cultural and academic center, where you will enjoy lunch and visit the Ethnographic Museum, home to one of East Africa's finest collections of historical artifacts, traditional crafts, and cultural exhibits.

    You will also have the opportunity to visit the Murambi Genocide Memorial, an important historical site that provides a deeper understanding of Rwanda's history and the country's remarkable journey of reconciliation and recovery.

    After the visits, continue through the scenic landscapes of southern Rwanda, passing rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural communities before arriving at Nyungwe National Park in the late afternoon or early evening.

    Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and relax while enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of the rainforest.

    Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe National Park

    After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced guides on chimpanzee tracking regulations and safety procedures. Thereafter, venture into the ancient Nyungwe rainforest in search of chimpanzees, one of the park's most celebrated primate species.

    As you trek through the dense forest, you may encounter a variety of other primates that inhabit Nyungwe, including L'Hoest's monkeys, olive baboons, grey-cheeked mangabeys, Angola colobus monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys. The forest is also renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and is home to more than 300 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

    Once the chimpanzees are located, spend time observing their fascinating behavior as they move through the forest canopy, feed, socialize, and communicate within their groups.

    After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation while enjoying the serene atmosphere of the rainforest.

    Day 5: Nyungwe Canopy Walk and Transfer to Kigali

    After breakfast, proceed to the Uwinka Visitor Centre for the famous Nyungwe Canopy Walk, one of the most exciting experiences in Rwanda. Suspended approximately 70 meters above the forest floor and stretching over 160 meters in length, the canopy walkway offers spectacular views of the rainforest, surrounding mountains, and diverse wildlife.

    As you walk above the treetops, keep an eye out for birds, butterflies, and primates moving through the forest canopy. The experience provides a unique perspective of one of Africa's oldest tropical rainforests and is a highlight of any visit to Nyungwe National Park.

    Following the canopy walk, begin your return journey to Kigali, enjoying scenic views of Rwanda's rolling hills, tea plantations, and picturesque countryside along the way.

    Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or to your hotel depending on your travel arrangements.
